New Patron for Northern Territory Branch.


The Honorable John Hardy OAM, sworn in as the new Administrator for the Northern Territory on 10 November 2014, has agreed to be Patron of the Northern Territory Branch of the Order of Australia Association, replacing the Honourable Sally Thomas AC, who served in the role since 2011.

Mr Hardy is known for establishing Air North and Hardy Aviation, which is the largest general aviation company in Australia and the fourth largest in the world.
John, Marie and their five children came to the Northern Territory in 1971.

The family business now employs: Chief pilot – son Greg; Commercial Development Manager – son Andrew; Personal Assistant – son Christopher; Accounts Assistant – daughter Louise; Traffic Officer and Supervisor – granddaughter Alexandra.

Mr Hardy was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in 2012 for services to aviation and community and has had long involvements in Rotary and the Darwin  Sailing Club.
