The Order of Australia

The Order of Australia, instituted by Her Majesty The Queen on 14 February 1975, was established as “an Australian society of honour for the purpose of according recognition to Australian citizens and other persons for achievement or for meritorious service”.

The Order of Australia Association

Our Association is an incorporated body of recipients of awards or appointments in the Order of Australia. The Association needs to be robust, flexible and responsive to the members’ needs and to serve as a model for community engagement.

Patron of the Association

The Association is proud that His Excellency General the Honourable David John Hurley AC DSC (Retd) has agreed to be our Patron.

Branches Australia and Overseas

Our Association has branches in each State and Territory and in the United Kingdom and North America. The national body and each Branch undertake activities in support of the community and social activities for our members. We promote and encourage the nomination of our fellow Australians for awards within the Order.
