Annual General Meeting

The Tasmania Branch AGM will be held at the Perth Community Centre.  A Member’s Forum will follow the AGM then a light lunch will be available.  The guest speaker will be Prof. Gretta Pecl AM

Prof. Pecl was recognised in the 2024 King’s Birthday honours “For significant service to science, particularly ecological research, and to tertiary education.”  She is the Professor of Climate Change Ecology and Director of the Centre for Marine Socio-ecology at the UTAS Institute of Marine and Antarctic Science based in Hobart.

Southern Region Morning Tea

What: Morning tea.  The guest speaker will be Mr Richard (Dick) Warner AM talking about Tasmanian agriculture and the Crawford Fund that provides agricultural aid to assist in producing more food, more jobs, rising incomes, better standards of living, and expanding national wealth to countries around the world.

Visit of National Vice Chairman, William Lye OAM KC

The Deputy National Chairman William Lye OAM KC will be visiting Launceston on Wednesday 25th September 2024 and is keen to meet as many Tasmanian members as possible.

Some background about William was in the May edition of The Order magazine.  If you have not seen the article, I recommend it to you.  This lunch will be a great opportunity to hear about the future of the Association and your opportunity to contribute to this forum.

North-West Region Lunch

What: Lunch at the Forth Hotel, 393 Leith Road, Forth
When: Wednesday, 14th August 2024 from 12.00 noon.

Northern Region Visits

Visits are planned to the Launceston Distillery and to the Royal Flying Doctor Service, both at Western Junction near Evandale on Wednesday, 7th August 2024. Following the visits a lunch will be at the nearby township of Evandale.  Bookings to be made by 31 July 2024.

Northern Region Winter Solstice Luncheon

Where: Riverside Golf Club

Guest speaker will be the former Mayor of West Tamar Council, Barry Easther OAM who will be talking about the Beaconsfield Mine Disaster of April 2006 and the recovery of the survivors.
