The Order of Australia Association (NSW Branch)

Youth Community Service Award 2022

This Award recognises exceptional community service by a Year 11 or 12 student in either the NSW HSC or International Baccalaureate (IB) programs. Nominations should provide a distinct description of the community involvement and contribution by the student, especially that extending beyond the school into the broader local, state, national or even international communities. Nominations for the Award are normally limited to ONE student per school. This may be extended to a MAXIMUM of TWO students where their individual initiatives demonstrate significantly different aspects and activities in community service.

The Award is competitive and 25 nominees will be recommended by a judging panel to receive it in person at a ceremony to be held at NSW Government House on Friday September 2 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm.

Nominees who are not selected for the Award may be further considered for a Certificate of Commendation for Community Service.

Nominations The nomination process comprises completion of this Nomination Form, including a clear Citation in no more than 1000 words. Other nominations by email or post will NOT be considered

Contact and Acceptance Timely contact with those selected for the Award is imperative and, where possible, a personal phone or email contact for successful nominees when judging is completed is essential. School email addresses have caused significant contact delays in past years, especially during term breaksA hard deadline may be set for acceptance, beyond which an unanswered offer could lapse. All personal contact details will be kept strictly confidential and not used for any purpose other than initial direct contact with successful nominees.

Other relevant evidence may also be provided, but judging will be primarily based on the Citation.

Photos Permission of the Awardee (or parent/guardian) is required for use of official individual and group photos taken at the ceremony for press articles and Award publicity.
